Our client is a boutique public practice accounting firm based in North Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, servicing a loyal and long-standing client base across a range of industries. An opportunity has become available for an experienced Bookkeeper to join the team in a varied, client-facing role. Working closely with Accountants and clients, you will be responsible for delivering accurate bookkeeping services while supporting businesses with their day-to-day financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-end bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients
• Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Bank, credit card and balance sheet reconciliations
• Payroll processing, STP reporting and superannuation obligations
• Preparation and lodgement of BAS and IAS
• Maintaining accurate financial records and client files
• Managing client bookkeeping queries and providing ongoing support
• Assisting with month-end and year-end reporting requirements
• Supporting accountants with compliance and reporting activities
• Ensuring adherence to relevant accounting and payroll legislation

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Previous bookkeeping experience within a public practice accounting firm
• Strong working knowledge of Xero (experience with MYOB or QuickBooks also advantageous)
• Experience processing payroll and preparing BAS lodgements
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication and client relationship skills
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously
• A professional, proactive and team-oriented approach
