Law Clerk - Property & Development
We are seeking an experienced Law Clerk to join our Property
& Development team in Melbourne, supporting a well-established Retirement
Villages practice. Working alongside experienced legal professionals, you will
play an important role in supporting the delivery of high-quality legal
services to a diverse client base.
This role offers exposure to a broad range of property and
development matters, with a particular focus on retirement living transactions
and related legal processes. You will work closely with lawyers, law clerks and
clients throughout key stages of matters, gaining valuable insight into the
commercial and practical aspects of property transactions while contributing to
the smooth progression of files from commencement through to completion.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum 2 years’ prior
experience as a Law Clerk, strong organisational skills and exceptional
attention to detail. You will be a proactive team member who enjoys building
relationships, takes pride in delivering a high standard of work and is
motivated to contribute to a collaborative and client-focused practice.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Creation and maintenance of client status reports;
- Creation and maintenance of Docusign envelopes
- Opening and closing files, entering new files onto Caseflow and I-Deal Docs;
- Receipting deposits and putting down into interest bearing accounts;
- General file maintenance (filing, mailing, scanning, archiving etc);
- Preparing files for settlement including;
- Arranging for settlement in PEXA, and attending to settlement;
- Monitoring payment of invoices and subsequent archiving; and
- Backup support to Law Clerks where required.
Skills/Knowledge
- Polished and accurate typing skills;
- Attention to detail;
- Professional telephone manner and the ability to field calls where appropriate;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and
- Excellent organisational and administrative ability.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a previous Law Clerk role;
- Conveyancing experience is of advantage but not essential;
- Experience working in a Retirement Villages practice is desirable.
