Role Summary
The Service Design
Specialist is responsible for designing, governing, transitioning, and
continuously improving technology services within an Operations Technology
environment. The role focuses on establishing service management frameworks,
maintaining service catalogues, supporting commercial and governance processes,
and ensuring services are effectively transitioned into operational support.
Core
Responsibilities
Service Design
- Design and implement services for Operations Technology projects in
alignment with ITIL standards.
- Develop service models, support structures, and operational
processes for new and existing services.
- Ensure service designs meet operational and business requirements.
Service Catalogue
Management
- Maintain and enhance the Operations Technology service catalogue.
- Manage service definitions, service offerings, and supporting
documentation.
- Ensure service catalogue information remains accurate and current.
Service Governance
- Support governance processes related to service planning, delivery,
and management.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of service governance
frameworks.
- Ensure services are delivered in accordance with established
policies and standards.
Commercial
Analysis
- Support service scoping, costing, and delivery activities.
- Conduct commercial analysis to support service design decisions and
service opportunities.
- Evaluate service options from operational and financial
perspectives.
Service Transition
& Lifecycle Management
- Develop and manage processes for onboarding new services into
operational environments.
- Support service transition activities and operational readiness
requirements.
- Manage service discontinuation processes to ensure minimal business
disruption.
Stakeholder
Engagement
- Collaborate with service delivery teams and operational
stakeholders.
- Support effective communication and coordination across service
delivery groups.
- Build strong working relationships to promote service governance
and operational effectiveness.
Documentation
& Continuous Improvement
- Maintain service documentation under version and release management
controls.
- Ensure documentation is accurate, approved, and up to date.
- Identify opportunities to improve service design, governance, and
service management processes.
