About the Role

DRD Group are seeking experienced Shotfirers to join a mining operation in WA.

This is a temp-to-perm opportunity for candidates with solid drill and blast experience who are looking for ongoing work.

You will be responsible for the safe preparation, loading and firing of production blasts, working closely with drill crews and site supervisors.


Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, load and fire production blasts
  • Follow blast designs, site procedures and safety requirements
  • Complete pre-blast inspections and blast area checks
  • Work closely with drillers and supervisors to ensure blasts are ready to fire
  • Safely handle, transport and secure explosives
  • Complete blast reports and required paperwork
  • Ensure blast areas are cleared and secured before firing
  • Follow environmental and site requirements during blasting activities

Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years' drill and blast experience
  • Current WA Shotfirer's Licence
  • Current Dangerous Goods Security Card
  • Good knowledge of explosives and blasting procedures
  • Current WA Driver's Licence
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening
Preferred
  • Experience in large-scale iron ore mining
  • Production drill and blast experience
  • Previous WA mining experience
  • Stable employment history
