Help Protect Consumers and Strengthen Compliance Across
NSW
NSW Fair Trading is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior
Inspector to join the newly established FuelCheck Taskforce.
FuelCheck is a key NSW Government initiative that helps
consumers compare fuel prices and promotes transparency across the fuel retail
industry. With new funding secured to support ongoing business-as-usual
operations, NSW Fair Trading is expanding its FuelCheck compliance capability
and recruiting dedicated inspector positions to support the program's
operational and regulatory requirements.
As a Senior Inspector, you will undertake compliance and
enforcement activities for this program and other duties within the consumer
branch, which will include inspections and investigations, providing regulatory
advice, and contributing to initiatives that improve industry compliance across
NSW.
What You'll Be Doing
- Conduct inspections, audits and investigations relating to FuelCheck compliance obligations.
- Assess evidence, identify non-compliance and recommend appropriate regulatory action.
- Support intelligence-led compliance programs and targeted enforcement activities.
- Prepare investigation reports, briefs and recommendations.
- Engage with fuel retailers and industry stakeholders to encourage voluntary compliance.
- Contribute to compliance monitoring, data analysis and reporting activities.
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to inspectors and other team members where required.
- Participate in taskforce initiatives and cross-functional projects supporting FuelCheck operations.
- Represent NSW Fair Trading professionally during field-based and stakeholder engagement activities.
About You

- Has experience in compliance, investigations, regulatory operations or enforcement activities.
- Demonstrates sound judgement and decision-making skills.

Essential Requirements
- Certificate IV (Government Investigations) or equivalent qualification, or willingness to obtain.
- Current NSW Driver Licence.
- Willingness to undertake regular travel throughout NSW, including field-based inspections.
- Satisfactory criminal history and probity checks.
