ADD VALUE - THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Team Leader Works to lead our Works Team and oversee the delivery of civil construction and maintenance activities across Council's infrastructure network. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who is passionate about safety, operational excellence and developing high-performing teams.

In this role, you will coordinate staff, plant and resources to deliver a diverse range of infrastructure projects and maintenance works. You will provide strong operational leadership, ensure compliance with safety, environmental and quality standards, and contribute to the planning and successful delivery of Council's Civil Operations program.

Working collaboratively with operational leaders across Civil Operations, you will support the successful delivery of infrastructure projects while fostering a positive, safety-focused and high-performing team culture.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and supervise civil construction and maintenance works, projects and programs.
  • Coordinate workforce, plant and resources to deliver safe, efficient and high-quality outcomes.
  • Coach, mentor and support team members to build capability and performance.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with WHS, environmental and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with other Civil Operations leaders to deliver infrastructure projects and services.
  • Monitor work progress, manage risks and provide timely operational updates and reporting.
  • Participate in emergency response activities and an after-hours on-call roster as required.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate IV in Civil Construction or equivalent qualifications and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising civil construction and maintenance works and projects.
  • Proven leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound knowledge of WHS requirements and safe work practices.
  • Experience using technology and software to support planning, reporting and project delivery.
  • Class C Driver Licence
This position is offered on a Permanent, Full-time basis working 38 hours per week. The team currently work a 9-day fortnight and a rotating on-call roster.

Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 10 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of $85,951.00 - $96,685.00 per annum plus superannuation. This position attracts the benefit of commuter use of a fit-for-purpose vehicle.
