Mechanical Drafter, South-East Suburbs of Melbourne | Temporary assignment

An established manufacturer based in Melbourne's south-east is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join its engineering team on a temporary basis. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining and updating engineering drawings, managing bills of materials (BOMs), and supporting continuous product improvement initiatives.
Your new role

• Update and maintain 2D and 3D mechanical drawings using CAD software
• Create and revise Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• Manage engineering change requests and drawing revisions
• Maintain engineering documentation and product data
• Support manufacturing and production teams with technical documentation
• Ensure drawings and BOMs accurately reflect current product configurations
• Assist with continuous improvement and product enhancement projects
• Liaise with internal stakeholders across engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and service departments

What you'll need to succeed

• Experience in a Mechanical Designer, Mechanical Drafter, CAD Designer, or similar role
• Proficiency in CAD software such as SOLIDWORKS, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes
• Experience creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• High level of attention to detail and document control discipline
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
