Major multi-year program | Strong extension potential

We're partnering with a large enterprise organisation looking for an experienced Oracle / PL/SQL Developer to join a major, multi-year technology program.

This is a hands-on development role working within a large, established enterprise application environment. You'll be working across an existing Oracle codebase, troubleshooting complex issues, enhancing functionality and delivering controlled changes to business-critical systems.

The initial contract is for 12 months, with the program expected to run for several years and strong potential for ongoing extensions.

‍

About the Role
‍

You'll be responsible for:

  • Developing, maintaining and enhancing applications built on Oracle Database and PL/SQL
  • Working across complex existing codebases and understanding dependencies between systems
  • Troubleshooting production and application issues and identifying root causes
  • Building and modifying stored procedures, packages, functions, triggers and complex SQL
  • Supporting application enhancements, releases and ongoing system improvements
  • Working with Unix/Linux environments and scripting
  • Reviewing and optimising SQL and PL/SQL where required
  • Collaborating with technical and business teams across a large enterprise environment
  • Delivering changes carefully within established development and release processes

‍

About You
‍

You'll be a strong Oracle Developer, rather than a DBA or Data Engineer, with significant hands-on experience in:

  • Oracle Database
  • PL/SQL development
  • Complex SQL development
  • Unix/Linux and shell scripting
  • Troubleshooting and debugging existing enterprise applications
  • Working within large, complex technology environments
  • Maintaining and enhancing mature systems rather than working solely on greenfield development

Experience in any of the following would be highly regarded:

  • Oracle Advanced Queuing (AQ)
  • SQL and database performance tuning
  • High-volume transactional systems
  • Billing or metering platforms
  • Energy, utilities or similarly complex regulated environments

‍

Why Join
‍

This would suit an experienced Oracle Developer who enjoys getting deep into complex systems and solving technical problems, rather than someone looking purely for greenfield development.

You'll be joining a significant long-term program with plenty of technical depth, an established enterprise environment and the potential for multiple contract extensions.
