Are you passionate about the outdoors, enjoy working with your hands and want to build a career in sports turf management? We are seeking a motivated and hardworking 1st Year Sports Turf Management Apprentice to join a dedicated team in Ryde.
This is an exciting opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, gain practical skills and work towards a nationally recognised Certificate III in Sports Turf Management, with the potential for ongoing employment upon successful completion of your apprenticeship.
About the Opportunity
As a Sports Turf Management Apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience maintaining sports fields and surrounding areas, helping ensure sporting facilities are safe, well-presented and maintained to a high standard.
Your duties will include:
- Maintaining sports fields and surrounding areas.
- Operating machinery and using hand and power tools.
- Mowing, whipper snipping and edging.
- Turfing and general turf maintenance.
- Hedging and pruning.
- Blowing, raking and mulching.
- Planting, watering and weeding.
- Applying herbicides, fungicides, insecticides and fertilisers under appropriate supervision and training.
- Cleaning and maintaining machinery and equipment.
- Performing general grounds maintenance duties as required.
You will develop valuable practical skills across a wide range of sports turf and grounds maintenance activities while working alongside experienced team members.
