About the role

This role sits within the middle office team, providing day-to-day trade management and operational support to the trading desk. Working closely with traders, brokers and global operations teams, you will help ensure trades are accurately processed, reconciled and settled across a range of energy and commodity products.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day middle office and operational support to an active energy trading desk, overseeing trade flows across physical and financial commodity products, derivatives, futures and options
• Manage the accurate capture, validation and processing of trades, ensuring transactions flow correctly from execution through confirmation, settlement and reconciliation
• Work closely with traders to resolve trade-related queries, investigate discrepancies and translate trading activity into accurate operational actions
• Perform daily reconciliations across cash, positions, transactions and inventory, identifying and resolving breaks while maintaining strong operational controls
• Maintain regular contact with prime brokers, clearing houses, custodians and other market counterparties to support smooth trade settlement and market connectivity
• Partner with risk, treasury, legal, technology and global operations teams to resolve issues, support regulatory requirements and maintain robust trading processes
• Identify opportunities to improve operational workflows, strengthen controls and reduce manual processes through automation, data analysis and technology
• Support the development of operational processes and controls for new energy and commodity products, markets and trading activities across the APAC region

About you

• 5+ years of experience in middle office, trade operations, settlements or trading support within financial markets
• Experience supporting institutional trading desks, ideally within an investment bank, trading house, market maker or hedge fund environment
• Exposure to energy, commodities or commodity derivatives is highly regarded, although candidates with strong broader financial markets experience are encouraged to apply
• Strong understanding of the trade lifecycle, including execution, confirmation, settlement and reconciliation
• Experience working with OTC, futures, options or other derivative products
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate breaks and resolve issues accurately within tight deadlines
• Experience with Excel, VBA, SQL, automation or data analysis tools will be advantageous
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with traders, brokers and internal stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
