The Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to help shape and grow Mutual Trust’s philanthropy presence in Western Australia, combining strategic philanthropy advice with relationship and business development.
  
Based in our Perth office, you’ll advise clients on their philanthropic aspirations, helping them develop their giving strategy, establish effective structures and governance, and put their plans into action in a considered and meaningful way.
  
Alongside your client work, you’ll play an important role in growing our presence in the WA market. You’ll build relationships and networks across the philanthropic and professional community, identify and develop new opportunities, and contribute to the continued growth of Mutual Trust’s philanthropy offering.
  
As part of our national Philanthropy team, you’ll work closely with specialists across Mutual Trust to bring together the expertise required to support each client’s philanthropic goals.
  
We are open to discussing a part-time or full-time appointment (0.6 - 1.0 FTE), with a preference for 3 to 4 days per week.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide strategic philanthropy advice to high and ultra-high net-worth-clients
  • Help clients define their philanthropic purpose, strategy and priorities
  • Advise on the establishment, governance and ongoing management of philanthropic structures
  • Lead the delivery of philanthropy engagements, from initial strategy through to implementation
  • Build and maintain trusted, long-term client relationships
  • Identify, develop and convert new business opportunities across the WA market
  • Build relationships with professional advisers, charities and the broader philanthropic community
  • Work with specialists across Mutual Trust to deliver integrated solutions that support clients’ philanthropic goals and what matters most
  • Contribute to thought leadership and market activity that builds Mutual Trust’s philanthropy profile in WA

About You
You are an experienced philanthropy professional with strong commercial, relationship management and business development capability. You know how to build trusted relationships, identify opportunities and convert them into meaningful, long-term engagements.
  
You bring:

  • 5+ years’ experience in philanthropy, with broad knowledge of the sector and philanthropic practice
  • Proven business development capability, with a track record of identifying, developing and winning new business
  • Extensive relationship management experience and the ability to build trusted relationships with high-value clients and stakeholders
  • Established professional networks and the ability to develop new relationships and opportunities in the WA market
  • Experience developing philanthropic strategies and translating philanthropic goals into practical outcomes
  • Knowledge of charitable structures, governance and the regulatory environment for philanthropy
  • Well-developed facilitation skills and the confidence to lead complex discussions involving multiple stakeholders
  • High emotional intelligence, sound judgement and the ability to navigate sensitive and complex matters
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business, Law or a field related to social impact or community development

Experience working with high and ultra-high net worth individuals or families, private foundations, trusts or as a professional adviser will be highly regarded, as will an understanding of the accounting and taxation concepts relevant to charitable giving and philanthropic structures.
