Financial Accountant

Join a growing business in a hands-on Financial Accountant contract with broad reporting exposure.

Location: North SydneyTenure: 4-Month Temporary Contract
Salary: Hourly rate equivalent to $130,000 per annum

An established and growing organisation is seeking a capable Financial Accountant to join its finance team on a fixed-term basis, providing parental leave cover. Operating within a fast-paced commercial environment, the business offers a collaborative culture and the opportunity to gain broad exposure across financial accounting, reporting and finance operations.
Your new role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this hands-on role will support the day-to-day finance function across financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations and transactional finance activities. This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant who can quickly integrate into a business, work autonomously and deliver high-quality outcomes to tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare journals and perform general ledger reconciliations.
• Support financial reporting and management reporting activities.
• Assist with consolidated reporting and intercompany reconciliations.
• Provide support across accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Prepare information and documentation for internal and external audits.
• Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies and outstanding items.
• Support financial analysis and reporting requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to support operational and reporting needs.

What you'll need to succeed

• Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in a Financial Accountant or comparable accounting role.
• Strong understanding of month-end processes, journals, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Exposure to both commercial finance and/or professional practice environments.
• CPA or CA qualified, or working towards completion, highly regarded.
• Experience using a large ERP system and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical capability and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
