Join our multidisciplinary mental health team in Northern Gold Coast! By providing evidence based, trauma informed and person-centred care across Open Minds’ Medicare Mental Health Centres that offer triage, assessment, clinical care coordination and immediate and short-term clinical intervention supporting people with varying levels of need, including those in distress.

We are currently looking for a full-time Senior Intake & Assessment Officer to join our Pimpama centre. As the first point of contact for individuals accessing our services, you will play a critical role in engaging, screening, assessing, and connecting service users with the right care, at the right time, in the right place. Your goal is to ensure that our diverse range of service users, their families and friends, feel welcome and heard while delivering holistic, recovery-orientated assessment and connection.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking intake and screening, including thorough bio-psycho-social assessments to ascertain service users’ needs and connecting with the most suitable services.
  • Conducting comprehensive risk assessments, evaluating harm to self and others, and devising action lans to support the service users in managing these risks.
  • Actively participating in multidisciplinary meetings, providing clinical expertise and leadership in decision making.
  • Building and maintaining productive professional relationships with a range of stakeholders to support referral pathways in and out of the service.
  • Work with Clinical Leads and leadership team to provide supervision and support to the multidisciplinary team in the centre.
  • Assist the Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator in promoting Medicare Mental Health Centre at community events.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, health, behavioural or social sciences, community services.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of mental health, including related evidence-based interventions and clinical practice.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the mental health sector providing assessments
  • Current Driver Licence
  • Current Blue Card
  • Current National Police Check
