We are currently seeking a passionate, dedicated, and experienced full-time Chef to lead our kitchen team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Menu Planning & Costs: Plan the dining menu, calculate food and labour costs, and order all kitchen supplies.
  • Kitchen Leadership: Plan, organise, and run the daily kitchen service.
  • Quality Control: Check the food quality at all times while it is being prepared and plated for customers.
  • Stock & Inventory Management: Predict how much food we will use. Order fresh ingredients and kitchen stock, and keep food waste as low as possible.
  • Staff Training & Supervision: Manage and train junior chefs, kitchen hands, and apprentices. Teach staff correct cooking techniques and cooking styles.
  • Food Safety & Rules: Follow and enforce all local food safety rules, hygiene laws, and HACCP standards across the kitchen.
  • Equipment Upkeep: Make sure all kitchen machines, tools, and work areas are perfectly clean, safe, and well-maintained.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Education: Qualification in Commercial Cookery (such as a Certificate IV or Diploma), OR at least 3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of hands-on experience working as a Chef in a high-volume cafe or restaurant environment.
  • Technical Skills: Expert knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and traditional/modern culinary procedures.
  • Operational Skills: Demonstrated capability to manage kitchen inventory, calculate food costs, and enforce strict food safety protocols.
  • Soft Skills: Strong time-management capabilities, leadership skills, ability to remain calm under pressure during peak breakfast and lunch hours, and excellent verbal communication.

Position Details

  • Status: Full-Time (38 hours per week, regular roster including early mornings, weekends, and public holidays).
