We are seeking an OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST - GRADE 1 to work in a full time (80 hours/fortnight) capacity based at NHILL.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • This position will provide Occupational Therapy services in the areas of
    rehabilitation, acute care, community care and in residential aged care using evidence-based practice.
  • Caseload allocation will be appropriate to experience level, with gradual progression across settings as competency develops.
  • WWHS supports ongoing professional development, including internal training, external CPD opportunities, and rural practice development.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential:

  • Current or eligible for registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate effectively with peers and other professionals and speak to community groups as required.
  • Demonstrated high level of written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently but also as a member of a team. Must be effective in a team and be able to demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm and flexibility.
  • Must be self-motivated and be responsible and responsive to a situation where a high level of professional autonomy exists.

Desirable: 

  • Previous placement or work experience in a hospital/healthcare setting.
  • Experience and understanding of issues specific to provision of services in rural and remote areas.
  • Have proven abilities in the assessment and development of strategies to improve function and participation in activities of daily living for a wide range of patients (paediatric to the older adult) with conditions such as musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiovascular conditions using a problem-solving and objective approach and a demonstrated flexibility to manage a diverse caseload.
  • Competence in using computer programs including Microsoft Word, Outlook and other databases such as iCare, and Uniti. Experience utilising the My Aged Care portal is also desirable

PRE-REQUISITES:

  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
  • Working with Children Check.
  • Fully vaccinated (including influenza) as per current Department of Health Directives.
  • Australian Driver’s Licence.

    Occupational Therapy Department, including attendance at regular team meetings.
