Position: Painter

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $80,000 plus superannuation per annum

Location: Lara VIC 3212

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Painter to join their team based in Lara, Victoria.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling cracks and repairing imperfections.
  • Apply paint, varnish, stains and protective coatings to walls, ceilings, doors, windows and other surfaces.
  • Measure and mix paints, primers, solvents and other coating materials according to specifications.
  • Select appropriate painting techniques, tools and materials for each project.
  • Apply primers, undercoats and finishing coats to achieve the required colour and finish.
  • Use brushes, rollers, spray guns and other painting equipment safely and effectively.
  • Protect floors, furniture, fixtures and surrounding areas from paint and dust during work.
  • Perform decorative painting, touch-ups and detailed finishing where required.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality, consistency and compliance with project requirements.
  • Identify and repair peeling, damaged or uneven painted surfaces.
  • Maintain and clean painting tools, equipment and work areas after completion.
  • Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including the safe handling and storage of paints and chemicals.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Work from plans, specifications and instructions to meet project requirements and deadlines.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, builders, tradespeople and other workers on-site.
  • Estimate material quantities and report any additional materials or repairs required.
  • Dispose of paint waste, materials and chemicals in accordance with environmental and workplace requirements.

Requirements:

  • AQF Certificate III in Painting and Decorating including at least two (2) years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV in relevant field
  • At least three (3) years of relevant experience as a Painter
  • Valid Australian driver’s licence
  • White Card.
