Your new companyOur client is a local government organisation committed to protecting natural ecosystems, community amenity and productive landscapes across the region. They are seeking an experienced Invasive Plant Management Technician to join their environmental services team and support critical biosecurity initiatives.
Your new roleWorking in a field-based capacity, you will play a key role in the surveillance, treatment and monitoring of high-risk invasive plant species. You will contribute to biosecurity outcomes by identifying, assessing and managing invasive plants across a variety of urban, semi-rural and natural environments.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting invasive plant surveillance and recording field data
  • Identifying, assessing and mapping target invasive plant species
  • Applying treatment methods and hygiene practices to minimise biosecurity risks
  • Planning and prioritising surveillance, treatment and monitoring activities
  • Safely transporting, storing and applying chemicals in accordance with regulations
  • Operating and maintaining plant, equipment and associated resources
  • Participating in joint field operations with internal and external stakeholders
  • Contributing to a positive safety culture and high-performing team environment

What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Experience in invasive plant management, vegetation management, biosecurity operations, natural area management or a similar field-based environment
  • Sound knowledge of invasive plant identification, treatment methodologies and biosecurity practices
  • Experience assessing and prioritising field activities in dynamic environments
  • Proficiency using field data collection, mapping or monitoring systems
  • A strong commitment to workplace health and safety, environmental compliance and safe chemical handling
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A proactive, adaptable and solutions-focused approach to your work
