Why Sunrise Health?
Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation (Sunrise) is an Aboriginal community-controlled, not-for-profit health service supporting communities across the Big Rivers region of the Northern Territory.
At Sunrise, our work is guided by respect, cultural safety, and strong relationships with community. Everything we do is grounded in listening, learning, and working alongside the people we serve to improve health and wellbeing in a way that is meaningful and culturally safe.

What’s in it for you?
At Sunrise, we care for our nurses and midwives as much as we care for our communities. You’ll be supported with:
• Competitive remuneration and salary packaging options
• Generous leave entitlements
• Relocation assistance to help you settle into the region
• Ongoing professional development, mentoring, and career progression opportunities
• The opportunity to make a meaningful impact while experiencing the unique lifestyle and landscapes of the Northern Territory
This is more than a nursing or midwifery role—it’s an opportunity to provide holistic, relationship-based care in some of Australia’s most culturally rich and remote communities. You’ll work to the full scope of your practice, build genuine connections, and be part of a team that values collaboration, respect and community-led care.

What’s the role?
As a Remote Area Nurse or Midwife with Sunrise, you will deliver comprehensive primary healthcare across remote Aboriginal communities in the Big Rivers region.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver comprehensive primary healthcare, including acute presentations, chronic disease management and preventative health, with maternity and women’s health services where applicable.
• Work collaboratively with Aboriginal Health Practitioners, GPs, allied health professionals and community members to provide culturally safe, responsive care.
• Support health education, community engagement and locally driven health initiatives.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with professional and regulatory standards.
• Participate in an on-call emergency response roster, with support from experienced clinical and operational teams.

Is this role right for you?
You’re a dedicated nurse or midwife who values connection, impact and adaptability, with a genuine commitment to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal families and communities.
You will bring:
• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife, Registered Nurse/Midwife or Child Health Nurse.
• A minimum of two years’ post-registration clinical experience.
• Experience in remote health, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, child health, primary healthcare or midwifery (experience across multiple areas is highly regarded).
• The ability to work confidently and autonomously while recognising when to seek clinical support.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a culturally safe and respectful approach to care.
• A commitment to ongoing learning, cultural safety and professional development.
• Flexibility and resilience to thrive in a remote healthcare environment.

Essential requirements:
• A current unrestricted manual driver’s licence
• Current First Aid certification
• A current National Police Check
• A valid NT OCHRE Card (or the ability to obtain one)
• An acceptable vaccination status to work with vulnerable people
• Full Australian working rights

We’re inviting Remote Area Nurses (RANs) and Midwives to join our team across the Big Rivers region.
If you’re ready to provide holistic, relationship-based care in remote Aboriginal communities, we’d love to hear from you.
