- Responding to planning enquiries from residents, applicants, developers and members of the public
- Providing clear and professional planning advice over the phone and through written correspondence
- Assisting customers to understand planning requirements, processes and relevant planning controls
- Managing phone duties and general enquiries as part of the wider planning team
- Assessing and determining planning permit applications as required
- Preparing planning reports, recommendations, correspondence and notices
- Undertaking site inspections and assessing proposals against relevant planning controls
- Liaising with internal Council departments and external stakeholders
- Supporting the resolution of planning matters and customer enquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or a related discipline
- Previous Victorian Local Government statutory planning experience
- Strong knowledge of Victorian planning legislation, processes and policies
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Confidence handling a high volume of phone and public planning enquiries
- The ability to explain technical planning information clearly and professionally
- Experience assessing planning applications and providing statutory planning advice
- Strong written communication and stakeholder management skills
