Your new role
As the Finance Coordinator - External Budgets & Capital, you will play a key role in supporting external budget processes, capital planning and government reporting requirements. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will provide strategic financial advice and help drive informed decision-making across the organisation.Key responsibilities include:
- Leading external budget and capital budget processes and associated documentation
- Preparing budget publications and supporting budget submissions
- Managing reporting requirements through the Commonwealth budget framework
- Providing strategic advice on complex budgeting, financial management and policy matters
- Supporting New Policy Proposal costings and detailed financial analysis
- Preparing responses to budget-related and ministerial requests
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Driving continuous improvement across budgeting systems, tools and processes
- Supporting knowledge sharing, training and capability uplift across finance teams
- Contributing to broader financial planning and organisational objectives
What you'll need to succeed
- Must be an Australian citizen with a minimum of Baseline security clearance
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Relevant qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or Business
- CA or CPA qualification (or working towards completion)
- Experience in external budgeting, financial planning or government finance environments
- Strong understanding of the Australian Government financial framework and budget processes
- Experience preparing financial management advice for senior stakeholders
- Strong stakeholder engagement and business partnering capability
- Well-developed analytical, judgement and problem-solving skills
- Experience preparing complex financial reports, submissions or budget documentation
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, with experience using financial management systems such as CBMS highly regarded
- The ability to work collaboratively within a geographically dispersed team environment
