Your new role
As a Building Surveyor, you will play a key role in assessing development applications, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and providing specialist building advice to a range of stakeholders.

  • Assess and process building permit applications in accordance with relevant legislation, codes and standards.
  • Conduct site inspections to support permit assessments and monitor construction compliance.
  • Investigate building compliance matters and resolve complex building-related issues.
  • Undertake swimming pool barrier inspections and manage non-compliance matters.
  • Provide specialist building surveying advice to planning officers and other internal stakeholders.
  • Liaise with residents, builders, developers and contractors regarding approvals and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure legislative timeframes are consistently achieved.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree, Associate Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Building Surveying (or equivalent recognised qualification).
  • Current registration as a Level 2 Building Surveyor.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the National Construction Code, Building Act 2011 and Building Regulations 2012.
  • Minimum two years' experience as a Building Surveyor, preferably within local government.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation and decision-making skills with strong attention to detail.
