Support community safety and wellbeing in Maningrida by providing a visible, respectful and culturally appropriate patrol service.
Duties include:
Patrolling community areas to help keep people safe and reduce harm.
Engaging respectfully with community members, families and Elders.
Identifying conflict, disturbances or people who may need assistance and responding appropriately.
Helping calm and de-escalate difficult situations.
Working with BHAC programs and other local services when additional support is needed.
Keeping accurate patrol logs and incident records.
Using patrol vehicles, radios, phones and other equipment safely.
Working as part of a patrol team and completing shift handovers.
Reporting safety concerns and incidents to the appropriate person.
Requirements
Strong knowledge of the Maningrida community, local culture and appropriate ways of working with community members.
Good communication skills and ability to engage respectfully with community members, Elders and families.
Ability to remain calm and help de-escalate difficult or tense situations.
Reliable and able to work independently and as part of a team.
Basic reading, writing and record-keeping skills.
Able to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Willing and able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
Previous community patrol, night patrol, youth or community support experience is desirable.
