LabourLens is recruiting on behalf of S.E Ferrington & The Trustee for Ferrington Family Trust t/a Capital Chemist Kingston for a full-time Pharmacist, to work 38 hours per week. Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are preferred. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering safe, accurate and professional pharmacy services to the local community. The role involves dispensing prescription medicines, providing medication counselling, reviewing patient medication requirements, supplying prescription and non-prescription medicines and participating in professional pharmacy services. The Pharmacist will also work closely with other pharmacists, dispensary technicians, pharmacy assistants and healthcare professionals to ensure high standards of patient care and efficient pharmacy operations.

Task & responsibilities
- Review and dispense prescriptions, checking patient medication histories, dosage requirements, administration instructions and potential medicine interactions.
- Provide professional medication counselling and advice to patients regarding the safe and appropriate use of prescription and non-prescription medicines.
- Assess prescriptions and patient medication requirements to identify potential contraindications, interactions or other medicine-related concerns.
- Review and monitor patient medication therapy and provide appropriate recommendations to support safe and effective treatment.
- Supply Pharmacist Only Medicines, Pharmacy Medicines, non-prescription products and general health products in accordance with relevant professional and legislative requirements.
- Deliver professional pharmacy services including dose administration aids, staged supply, clinical interventions, health screening, disease management and health promotion programs.
- Maintain accurate prescription, dispensing and controlled medicine records and ensure compliance with pharmacy procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure medicines, vaccines and other temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products are appropriately stored, handled and monitored.
- Liaise with medical practitioners and other healthcare professionals regarding prescriptions, medication-related concerns and patient treatment requirements.
- Support and coordinate dispensary operations and provide professional guidance to pharmacy technicians, pharmacy assistants, interns and other pharmacy team members where required.
- Maintain effective security measures over medicines as per legislative requirements
Qualification & experience
- A Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Pharmacy or a closely related recognised pharmacy qualification.
- At least one year of relevant experience.
- Current registration as a Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia/AHPRA (Provisional or Full registration), or eligibility to hold the required registration.
- Sound knowledge of prescription dispensing, medication management, patient counselling and medicine safety.
- Understanding of relevant pharmacy legislation, professional standards and regulatory requirements.
- Strong communication, clinical judgement and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with patients, healthcare professionals and other pharmacy team members.
