BOND CLADDING RESIDENTIAL

Bondclad Facades is seeking an experienced Carpenter to join its construction team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will undertake carpentry and associated façade installation works across commercial construction projects, working with timber, lightweight steel, wallboard, cladding substrates and other construction materials.

The position requires the ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications, accurately set out and prepare materials, construct and install structural and non-structural components, and complete façade-related carpentry works to project specifications and required quality standards.

Task & responsibilities

• Study construction drawings, specifications and project documentation to determine required materials, dimensions, layouts and installation procedures. 
• Select, measure and prepare timber, lightweight steel, wallboard and other construction materials required for carpentry and façade works. 
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and fix materials using appropriate hand and power tools. 
• Construct and install timber and lightweight framing, support structures, backing systems and associated building components. 
• Install and secure exterior wall cladding, façade backing structures, sheathing and associated fixtures in accordance with drawings and specifications. 
• Fit and install door and window frames and associated façade interface components. 
• Assemble prepared materials and components to form structures and fittings ready for installation. 
• Check the alignment, levels, dimensions and trueness of completed structures and installed components. 
• Cut and form joints and accurately modify materials to suit site conditions and detailed construction requirements. 
• Undertake repairs, alterations and replacement of existing carpentry, façade and building components as required. 
• Work with timber, plywood, lightweight steel, laminates, metals and other materials commonly used in commercial façade construction. 
• Coordinate with site supervisors and other trades to ensure carpentry and façade works integrate correctly with surrounding building systems. 
• Maintain high standards of workmanship while complying with project specifications, WHS requirements and site procedures.

Qualification & experience

• AQF Certificate III in Carpentry, including relevant on-the-job training, AQF Certificate IV, or an equivalent relevant qualification. 
• Alternatively, at least three years of relevant carpentry experience may substitute for the formal qualification where applicable. 
• Demonstrated experience undertaking carpentry works within commercial construction environments. 
• Experience with façade, external cladding or building-envelope construction will be highly regarded. 
• Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, construction plans and technical specifications. 
• Demonstrated ability to accurately measure, cut, assemble, install and repair structural and building components. 
• Experience working with timber, plywood, lightweight steel, wallboard, metals and associated construction materials. 
• Competence in the safe operation of carpentry hand tools and power tools. 
• Strong attention to accuracy, alignment, levels and quality of finished installations. 
• Ability to work effectively as part of a construction team and coordinate with supervisors and other trades. 
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements applicable to commercial construction sites. 
• Current White Card and any other licences or certifications required to perform the duties of the position.
