Community Justice Group Activities provide for early interventions as an alternative to direct contact with the formal justice system in cases of offending behaviour. The justice groups are not merely centres for disciplining offenders but provide group-based assistance and support for individuals. There is an emphasis upon setting people on the right track, instilling aboriginal and Torres strait islander and community values, providing positive reinforcement sorting out problems and encouraging people to be accountable to the community for their actions.
