Yuvraj Aulakh Pty Ltd t/a Delhi to Canberra Indian Cuisine is an authentic Indian restaurant located at 12 Chinner Crescent, Melba, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, 2615 serving delicious extensive menu of dishes in great ambiance with excellent customer services using fresh ingredients to make remarkable dining experience. We are looking for a full-time  passionate, qualified and experienced Cook with minimum 38 hours per week, for our daily operations in the Melba, ACT.

Benefits

The restaurant operates six days a week, with the position requiring a minimum of 38 hours per week. The successful candidate may also be required to work paid overtime as needed. A competitive salary of $75,000 to $85,000 per annum plus minimum guaranteed superannuation is offered to deserving candidates.

Task & responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking a range of ingredients and dishes, including vegetables, soups, meats, seafood, Indian, etc.
• Ensuring high standards of food quality.
• Ensure food quality at every stage of cooking.
• Ensure proper plate presentation
• Seasoning, garnishing, portioning  and serving foods.
• Preparation of raw ingredients including meat and vegetables through use of varied cutting and marinating techniques.
• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
• Menu planning and development as per ingredient availability and seasonal demands  in consultation with head chef. 
• Maintaining high standards of food hygiene
• Cooking food using various techniques.
• Modify dishes as per customer special requirements like vegan, cultural needs, etc.
• Ensure safety and hygienic practices are followed in Kitchen.
• Monitor stock, perform necessary stock rotation and placing orders when needed.
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
• Check quality of ingredients and Taking deliveries of stock.
• Regulate temperature of kitchen equipment to maintain food quality.
• Storing and preserving food using various methods.
• Train and supervise junior kitchen staff to ensure efficient business operations.
• Estimate food requirements and ensuring cost controls

Qualification & experience

• Relevant AQF qualification in Commercial Cookery-minimum certificate iii, certificate iv preferred
• At least one year of relevant work experience
• A positive attitude and good team member.
• Good Communication skills.
• Able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Australian work experience preferred in similar environment.
