Reporting to the Service Manager, you will plan, design, coordinate and deliver recreation and leisure based programs that support, challenge and enhance the psychological, social, emotional and physical wellbeing of NDIS participants. You will help people with disability take part in meaningful community and centre based activities, build independence and enjoy a higher quality of life.
The successful candidate will lead and work within a team while engaging participants, families, support staff and community partners in a dynamic activity program.

Task & responsibilities
- Plan, implement and review individual and group recreation programs that promote wellbeing, social connection and skill development for people with disability.
- Identify each participant’s needs, interests, strengths and abilities through observation and task analysis, then tailor activities so they can take part safely and with purpose.
- Organise community outings, on site events and leisure opportunities that match participant preferences and NDIS goals.
- Adapt programs so they remain suitable as participants’ skills, health or interests change.
- Keep accurate records of assessments, activity plans, participation and outcomes in line with NDIS Practice Standards and organisational requirements.
- Work with support coordinators, families, volunteers and other providers so lifestyle programs sit within each person’s broader support plan.
- Maintain knowledge of local community resources, venues and opportunities that can be used in programs.
- Support and guide support workers and volunteers who assist with activities.
Qualification & experience
- Certificate IV in Leisure and Health, Diversional Therapy, Recreational Therapy or another qualification recognised as relevant to the occupation (or equivalent combination of qualification and experience).
- At least one year of relevant full time experience.
- Demonstrated experience delivering recreation or lifestyle programs in a disability, NDIS or community setting.
- Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements that apply to activity programs and community outings.
- Understanding of person-centred practice and supporting people with a range of disabilities, including cognitive and physical support needs.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or ability to obtain before commencement).
- Current First Aid and CPR (highly regarded).
- Current driver’s licence (preferred for community outings).
