Accountant (General)

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Accountant is responsible for the company's accounting function and for the accuracy and statutory compliance of its financial reporting across the import, manufacturing, wholesale and retail operations. This is a full-time, permanent position based at the company's head office in Lane Cove, NSW. The successful candidate will provide professional accounting expertise, financial analysis and advice to support the company's ongoing operations and growth.

Task & responsibilities

•    Prepare and review financial statements and management reports, and provide assurance on their accuracy and compliance with Australian accounting standards and statutory requirements

•    Formulate and maintain accounting policies, accounting systems and internal control systems across the business

•    Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger reconciliations, including work prepared by support staff

•    Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, GST and other taxation returns, and liaise with the ATO

•    Prepare budgets, cash flow forecasts and cost analyses across the import, manufacturing, wholesale and retail operations

•    Analyse product costing and landed costs for imported goods to support pricing and margin decisions

•    Provide financial and taxation advice on business structures, plans and operations, and liaise with external accountants and auditors on year-end and audit processes

•    Provide financial analysis and appraise financial risk to support management decision-making

Qualification & experience

•    Bachelor degree or higher in Accounting or a related discipline

•    CPA or CA membership (or actively working towards) preferred

•    At least minimum 1 year of relevant accounting experience 

•    Sound knowledge of Australian taxation and accounting standards

•    Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel

•    Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
