Proof Pizzeria is seeking a skilled and reliable Cook to join our kitchen team in Heidelberg. The Cook will be responsible for preparing, cooking and presenting dishes to established quality standards, maintaining food safety and hygiene, assisting with stock control and food preparation, and supporting efficient kitchen operations during busy service periods. The successful candidate will work closely with chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure consistent food quality, portioning and timely service.

Task & responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present a range of dishes in accordance with established recipes and quality standards. 
• Prepare ingredients, including washing, cutting, portioning and other food preparation activities. 
• Operate cooking equipment and ensure dishes are prepared efficiently and consistently. 
• Monitor food quality, portion sizes, presentation and temperature. 
• Assist with daily food preparation, stock rotation, storage and inventory control. 
• Ensure ingredients and prepared foods are stored correctly to minimise waste and maintain freshness. 
• Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen and work area. 
• Follow food safety, workplace health and safety, and hygiene requirements. 
• Coordinate with chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy periods. 
• Assist with menu preparation, recipe improvements and the introduction of new dishes where required. 
• Monitor kitchen supplies and advise senior staff when stock needs to be replenished.

Qualification & experience

• Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent relevant qualification. 
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience working as a Cook in a commercial kitchen. 
• Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations. 
• Ability to consistently prepare food to required quality and presentation standards. 
• Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements. 
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. 
• Strong teamwork, communication and time-management skills.
