Join Morrow Geotechnics as a Geotechnical Engineer in a varied, hands-on role combining fieldwork, technical reporting and project delivery.
You’ll work across a diverse range of projects throughout Sydney and the Illawarra, with the opportunity to take ownership of your work from site investigation through to interpretation and reporting. Task & responsibilities
- Undertaking geotechnical site investigations, including drilling supervision, soil and rock logging and sampling
- Planning and coordinating field investigations with project managers, drilling contractors and other subcontractors
- Construction-phase geotechnical inspections
- Inclinometer installation, monitoring and interpretation
- Groundwater monitoring and data collection
- Accurate collection, interpretation and management of field and laboratory data
- Preparation of factual and interpretive geotechnical reports
- Developing geotechnical recommendations based on site conditions, investigation results and project requirements
- Liaising with clients, contractors and other project consultants
- Managing assigned projects from fieldwork through to reporting
- Working across multiple projects at different stages of delivery
- Supporting senior engineers with more complex geotechnical assessments and project requirements
Qualification & experience
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum of one years work experience
- Previous experience working in geotechnical engineering, including site investigation and reporting
- Strong understanding of soil and rock logging and geotechnical investigation practices
- Comfortable working both independently on site and in an office environment
- Confident communicating with clients, contractors and project teams
- Strong written communication and technical reporting skills
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Willing to travel to project sites across Sydney, the Illawarra and surrounding areas
- Current Australian driver's licence and ability to drive manual vehicle
