About the Role: 

We are looking for a skilled and energetic Retail Store Manager to oversee daily operations at our FoodWorks Slacks Creek supermarket. This full-time role is ideal for a hands-on retail manager who knows how to drive sales, lead a team, streamline operations, and deliver great service to our local community. 

In this position, you will take full ownership of the store’s operational success, profitability, and overall standards. You’ll be instrumental in boosting sales performance, optimising day-to-day efficiency, and building a welcoming environment for both our customers and staff.

Task & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities: - 

- Manage everyday store activities, including opening/closing procedures, visual standards, and overall presentation. 

- Recruit, train, roster, and mentor team members to foster a positive, high-performing workplace culture. 

- Implement effective merchandising, local promotional strategies, and excellent customer service to hit key sales and margin targets. 

- Direct ordering, stock rotation, replenishment, and waste reduction strategies to ensure maximum shelf availability and minimal loss. 

- Monitor store KPIs, sales metrics, and labour costs to pinpoint areas for operational improvement. 

- Maintain strong supplier relationships and ensure all catalogue promotions, pricing updates, and displays are set up accurately. 

- Set the standard for customer service and handle any complex inquiries or issues in a professional, timely manner. 

- Ensure full adherence to food safety guidelines, workplace health and safety (WHS) regulations, and retail compliance standards. 

- Work alongside store owners to plan and execute long-term strategies that boost sales and customer loyalty.

Qualification & experience

What We're Looking For:

- Proven track record in supermarket, grocery, or high-volume food retail management.

- Strong leadership ability with a track record of coaching, developing, and motivating staff.

- Practical knowledge of inventory control, shrink management, ordering systems, and visual merchandising.

- Ability to read sales reports, understand profit margins, and manage labour budgets effectively.

- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.

- A proactive, solutions-oriented approach with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

- Familiarity with modern POS, rostering, and retail inventory management software.

- Solid understanding of Australian WHS laws, food safety standards, and retail industry awards.

- Must have full working rights in Australia.
