As a Solution Architect, you will lead the modernization of critical application suites, working to design and develop high-performance, secure IT solutions.

Benefits

  • Impactful Work: Be the primary architect behind the core application modernisation that directly affects millions of transactions.
  • Flexible Working: Work from home flexibility with regular technical guild sessions and collaborative modern office hubs in Sydney/Melbourne.
  • Professional Development: Continuous learning pathways, certifications support, and mentorship opportunities.
  • Modern Workspace: Access to the latest developer tools, including pilot programs for AI-assisted coding (GitHub Copilot) and local AI research environments.

Task & responsibilities

As a Solution Architect, you will lead the modernization of critical application suites, working independently and guiding cross-functional teams to design and develop high-performance, secure IT solutions.

1. Application Modernisation & Re-platforming

  • Legacy Refactoring: Lead the refactoring and migration of legacy monolithic frameworks (including .Net 2.0/3.5 SCSF, VB6, and classic ASP) into modern, secure, and modular applications.
  • API & Service Upgrades: Spearhead the upgrade of legacy Web APIs and services (WCF services, older .Net Web APIs) to modern platforms, specifically transitioning services through .Net 4.8, .Net 8, and onto .Net 10 architectures.
  • Desktop Workspace Evolution: Modernise legacy thick-client application distribution methods, transition packaging from legacy MSI to modern MSIX packaging, and ensure seamless delivery within Windows 11 enterprise environments.
  • Legacy System Integration & Transition: Support and modernise systems that integrate with specialized legacy frameworks, including Centura-based systems and legacy AION Rule Engines, ensuring smooth data flow and minimal disruption during migration waves.

2. DevOps & Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

  • CI/CD Pipeline Engineering: Architect, build, and productionise automated CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps (YAML) and in-house or cloud-first CI engines (such as Drone CI or AWS CodeBuild/CodeDeploy).
  • Infrastructure as Code: Develop and maintain AWS CloudFormation templates to establish repeatable, secure, and robust baseline infrastructures for multi-tenant environments.

3. Application Security & Compliance

  • Security Liaison: Act as a critical liaison between local RANZ (Australia and New Zealand) security business units and global enterprise security groups.
  • Vulnerability Mitigation: Implement Static Application Security Testing (SAST) tools (such as Fortify SCA) within CI/CD pipelines, evaluate security findings, and mentor developers to remediate vulnerabilities and follow secure SDLC practices.

4. Technical Leadership & Collaboration

  • Architectural Roadmap: Design clear modernization roadmaps, deliver high-level technical designs, provide rigorous effort estimations, and execute Proofs of Concept (POCs).
  • AI/ML Innovation: Drive pilots and POCs utilizing local language models (e.g., Gemma) to automate business processes (such as automated credit and underwriting summary reports) while ensuring strict security and compliance around sensitive data.

Cross-Functional Team Mentoring: Collaborate with, mentor, and align offshore, onshore, and cross-functional teams (staff across various organizational levels and geographies)
