Key Responsibilities

  • Study functional statements, organisational charts and project information to determine the functions and responsibilities of workers and work units, and identify areas of duplication.
  • Establish work measurement programs and analyse work samples to develop standards for labour utilisation.
  • Analyse workforce utilisation, facility layout, operational data, and production schedules and costs to determine optimum worker and equipment efficiencies.
  • Design mechanical equipment, machines, components and products for manufacture, and plan systems for construction.
  • Develop specifications for manufacture, and determine materials, equipment, piping, material flows, capacities and layout of plant and systems.
  • Organise and manage project labour and the delivery of materials, plant and equipment.
  • Establish standards and policies for installation, modification, quality control, testing, inspection and maintenance in accordance with engineering principles and safety regulations.
  • Inspect plant regularly to ensure optimum performance is maintained.
  • Direct the maintenance of plant buildings and equipment, and coordinate requirements for new designs, surveys and maintenance schedules.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design, plant operations, or process engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, safety regulations, and quality control standards.
  • Proficiency with relevant engineering and design software (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Relevant professional registration/licensing (e.g. Engineers Australia membership) preferred.
