The iconic Kakadu Crocodile Hotel (JB Kakadu Hotel Pty Ltd ABN 86 692 273 591) located in the flagship town of Jabiru in the heart of Kakadu National Park is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and highly driven individual to take on the role of Kitchen Steward.

As a Kitchen Steward based in the heart of Kakadu National Park, you will play an integral role in supporting our kitchen team and maintaining the high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and efficiency essential to delivering exceptional dining experiences. Task & responsibilities

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across the kitchen, dishwashing and food preparation areas to a consistently high standard.
  • Wash, sanitise and store crockery, cutlery, cookware, utensils and kitchen equipment efficiently.
  • Assist the kitchen team with basic cleaning, preparation and general duties as required during service.
  • Ensure kitchen areas, equipment and floors are kept clean, organised and safe throughout each shift.
  • Support the correct handling, storage and disposal of food waste and general waste in accordance with workplace procedures.
  • Assist with receiving, storing and rotating kitchen supplies as required.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, health and safety and workplace procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with Chefs, Food & Beverage and other team members to support smooth kitchen operations.
  • Maintain a positive, reliable and flexible approach, particularly during busy service periods.
  • Embrace the unique remote environment of Kakadu and contribute positively to the overall team and guest experience.

Qualification & experience

Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience in a kitchen, hospitality, cleaning or similar role is essential minimum 12 months.
  • Good understanding of kitchen hygiene, cleanliness and food safety practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean and organised work environment.
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physically fit and comfortable with standing for extended periods and performing manual tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse and supportive team.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, public holidays and varying shifts.
  • A positive, hardworking and adaptable attitude, with the ability to thrive in a remote environment.
  • Food Safety certification is desirable, or willingness to obtain.
