Nature Play Solutions creates play spaces where people of all ages and abilities love to play. Our work is focused on the design and creation of high-quality play opportunities in a nature setting. We are busy and looking for an experienced Carpenter to join our team, particularly with site carpentry tasks, including 

  • Interpret drawings, job plans, and site measurements to build custom decks, cubbies, and play items. 
  • Select, prepare, and process timber and other materials (including steel, rope, plastic, and concrete) for each project.
  • Set out, cut, assemble, and fix timber components for play equipment, decks, cubbies, fences, and related structures.
  • Build and install subfloors, framing, and roofs so work is plumb, level, square, and meets standards and company requirements.
  • Safely operate and maintain hand and power tools (for example nail guns, drills, drivers, saws, sanders) in line with safety procedures.
  • Carry out on-site timber preparation, including trimming, sanding, filling, and applying stains, sealers, or protective coatings.
  • Install completed play structures, decks, fences, and landscape carpentry elements, ensuring correct positioning, stability, and safe use.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on existing play spaces, including replacing components and re-coating or refinishing materials.
  • Inspect existing structures to identify defects or safety concerns and complete remedial work in line with company procedures.
  • Take accurate site measurements, calculate dimensions and quantities, and set out work to minimise waste and ensure correct fit.
  • Check completed work against designs, quality standards, and safety requirements
  • Follow all workplace health and safety procedures, including safe manual handling, correct PPE use, and site-specific rules  

Qualification and Experience Required

 

Relevant Certificate III plus 2-years relevant experience

OR 

Relevant Certificate IV plus 1-year relevant experience

OR 

At least 3 years’ relevant experience may substitute for the relevant qualification

 

Skills Required

 

  • Carpentry skills in set-out, framing, fixing, and finishing for decks, cubbies, fences, and similar outdoor structures.
  • Ability to accurately read and work from drawings, job plans, and written specifications, including custom and non-standard designs.
  • Competent and safe use of hand and power tools, with sound measuring, marking out, cutting, joining, and basic tool maintenance skills.
  • Solid numeracy, planning, and problem-solving skills to calculate dimensions, minimise waste, adapt to site conditions, and maintain safety and quality.
  • Well developed safety awareness, organisation, teamwork, reliability, and commitment to continuous learning and delivering high-quality, child-focused work in line with company values.
