About the Role
Hair Doctors Australia is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Technician to join our clinical team. The role involves assisting medical practitioners in hair restoration procedures, supporting operating theatre preparation, and ensuring high clinical standards across patient care and surgical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating diagnostic and monitoring equipment such as ECG machines and equipment used to monitor blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature and pulse rate as part of pre-assessment and patient monitoring while in theatre.
- Assisting with procedures and supporting surgical teams while patients are in theatre, including retrieving and preparing medical instruments required for hair transplant surgery.
- Recording ECGs when required before and during surgical procedures, collecting blood samples, performing venepuncture and conducting urinalysis tests pre-operatively.
- Maintaining, setting up and checking the operating theatre and hair transplant workstations on a daily basis, including preparing the theatre before surgery, preparing local anaesthetic, sterilising surgical equipment following procedures and maintaining strict infection control procedures throughout the day.
- Preparing patients’ take-home medication packs and liaising with pharmacies regarding patient prescriptions, including forwarding prescriptions to pharmacies and collecting prescribed medications for patients.
- Harvesting, preparing, cleaning and sorting hair grafts for hair transplant surgery and assisting the surgeon with the placement of hair grafts while patients are in theatre.
Qualifications and Experience
- AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma, or at least three years of experience.
- At least 1 year of highly relevant full time work experience required .
- Experience working in a clinical or surgical environment is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of sterilisation procedures, infection control, and clinical safety standards.
- Ability to operate basic patient monitoring equipment, including heart rate and blood pressure monitors.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a precision-based medical environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a clinical team.
