LabourLens is recruiting on behalf of The Trustee for Lillypilly EEC Unit Trust (Lillypilly EEC Pty Ltd) t/a Lillypilly Early Education Centre for an Educator (Child Care Worker) to join the team on a full-time basis (minimum 38 hours per week). Australian Permanent Residents and Australian Citizens are preferred for this position. The role involves assisting Lead Educators with the preparation of learning materials and equipment, supporting the delivery of age-appropriate educational and recreational activities, supervising children during indoor and outdoor play, and assisting with their daily routines and hygiene needs. The Educator will also support children's social and emotional development through positive behaviour guidance, interactive play, reading, games and group activities. The position requires a caring and responsible approach, effective communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of children's health, safety and wellbeing in accordance with the centre's policies and applicable early childhood education and care requirements.

Task & responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Educator in preparing learning materials, play equipment and resources for children's educational and recreational activities.
- Support the implementation of age-appropriate learning experiences, play-based activities and daily programs prepared by the Lead Educator.
- Prepare and conduct individual and group activities that encourage children's participation, creativity, communication and social interaction.
- Engage children through reading, storytelling, music, games, arts and crafts, imaginative play and other recreational activities.
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play, educational activities, rest periods and other parts of the daily routine.
- Assist children with their daily routines, including meals, rest, toileting, dressing and transitions between activities.
- Support children's social and emotional development by encouraging positive interactions, cooperation, sharing and appropriate behaviour.
- Manage children's behaviour using positive guidance techniques and report behavioural or developmental concerns to the Lead Educator where appropriate.
- Assist children in maintaining good personal hygiene, including handwashing, toileting and other age-appropriate hygiene practices.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised environment by checking that toys, learning materials and equipment are appropriately used and stored.
- Observe children's participation, behaviour and development and communicate relevant observations to the Lead Educator to support ongoing programming.
- Provide appropriate care, comfort and supervision to children while promoting their independence and confidence.
- Assist with setting up and packing away educational, recreational and meal areas throughout the day.
- Follow the centre's policies and procedures relating to children's health, safety, wellbeing and supervision.
- Work cooperatively with Lead Educators and other team members to provide a supportive, inclusive and nurturing environment for all children.
Qualification & experience
- Minimum AQF Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, or a relevant equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a childcare centre, early learning centre or similar early childhood education environment is preferred.
- Sound understanding of children's daily care, supervision, hygiene, safety and wellbeing requirements.
- Ability to assist with and conduct age-appropriate educational, recreational and play-based activities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with children, families and other educators.
- Ability to support children's social and emotional development using positive behaviour guidance techniques.
- Ability to work effectively under the direction of Lead Educators and as part of a collaborative team.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety, child safety and relevant early childhood education and care requirements.
- Current or ability to obtain relevant clearances and certifications required to work in an early childhood education and care environment.
