TRUCK / PLANT HEAVY VEHICLE MECHANIC

Location: 10 Industry Street, Malaga WA 6090

Salary: $80,000 – $100,000 per annum plus 12% Superannuation

Position: Full-Time, Permanent (38 hours per week)

MUST LIVE IN & POSSESS THE RIGHT TO WORK FULL-TIME IN AUSTRALIA

Key Duties

  • Plan and organise the tools, replacement parts and resources required to complete servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance efficiently. 
  • Diagnose, service and repair diesel engines, driveline components and associated heavy vehicle mechanical systems using appropriate diagnostic equipment and manufacturer specifications. 
  • Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on trucks, heavy vehicles and associated equipment to maximise reliability and minimise operational downtime. 
  • Inspect heavy vehicles to identify mechanical faults, wear and component failures, determining appropriate repair methods using workshop testing and diagnostic equipment. 
  • Remove, dismantle and inspect diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, steering assemblies and other mechanical components to assess repair or replacement requirements. 
  • Repair, overhaul or replace worn or defective mechanical components before reassembling and adjusting systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workshop procedures. 
  • Perform routine servicing including lubrication, oil and filter changes, fluid replacement, adjustments and mechanical inspections to maintain vehicle performance and reliability. 
  • Test vehicles and mechanical systems following repairs to verify safe operation, performance and compliance with workshop quality standards. 
  • Assist, where required, with the mechanical installation, servicing and maintenance of concrete pumping equipment and associated hydraulic components fitted to truck chassis. 
  • Maintain accurate workshop documentation relating to inspections, servicing, repairs, replacement components and completed maintenance activities. 
  • Work collaboratively with fabrication, hydraulic and engineering personnel to coordinate repairs and meet workshop production schedules. 
  • Attend breakdowns and field service work where required to diagnose faults and return heavy vehicles and equipment to operational service. 
  • Operate in accordance with company procedures, workplace health and safety requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, clean and organised workshop. 
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Leading Hand or Workshop Manager. 

Key Skills

Applicants should possess:

  • Relevant trade qualifications as a Diesel Motor Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, or another closely related mechanical trade. 
  • Demonstrated experience servicing, maintaining and repairing diesel-powered trucks, heavy vehicles or mobile plant. In lieu of a relevant qualification, applicants must have at least three (3) years of full-time, relevant work experience in the occupation or a closely related field. 
  • Proven ability to diagnose mechanical faults and determine effective repair solutions for diesel engines and heavy vehicle mechanical systems. 
  • Experience interpreting workshop manuals, technical drawings and manufacturer service information. 
  • Experience using electronic diagnostic equipment and modern workshop testing tools. 
  • Sound understanding of preventative maintenance programs and workshop safety procedures. 
  • Experience working with hydraulic systems will be highly regarded. 
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills. 
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a workshop environment. 
  • Current Australian Driver Licence, MR or HR Licence (desirable).

Due to continued business growth, we are seeking an experienced Truck / Plant Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our Malaga workshop.

Working within our service and manufacturing team, you will be primarily responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing diesel-powered trucks, heavy vehicles and associated mechanical systems used in our operations. From time to time, you will also assist with the mechanical fitment and servicing of concrete pumping equipment installed on truck chassis and associated hydraulic components.
