The cafe provides a range of freshly prepared food and beverages in a welcoming dining environment. The business focuses on quality food preparation, presentation and consistent service standards. The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. The role involves food preparation, cooking and kitchen operations while maintaining high standards of quality, presentation, hygiene and service. Key Responsibilities • Organise daily kitchen activities and arrange ingredients and preparation tasks based on menu requirements. • Prepare and cook a variety of cafe dishes while maintaining appropriate portion sizes and presentation. • Assist with the preparation of pastries, baked products, breads and other menu items as required. • Check food quality throughout preparation and ensure finished dishes meet established presentation standards. • Work with managers and kitchen and service staff to address food preparation and service requirements. • Guide kitchen team members on appropriate cooking methods, preparation techniques and workplace procedures. • Maintain food hygiene, cleanliness and safe handling practices in accordance with applicable requirements. • Assist with training new kitchen staff and provide guidance on food preparation and kitchen procedures. • Store, preserve and rotate food products appropriately to maintain freshness and minimise wastage. Qualifications & Experience • AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Culinary Arts, Commercial Cookery or a related field. • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Chef or in a similar commercial kitchen role. • Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and food safety requirements. • Strong communication, teamwork, organisation and time-management skills. • Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment while maintaining food quality and presentation.
