All About Fencing Group Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and suitably skilled Landscape Gardener to join its team on a full-time basis.

The successful applicant will be responsible for planning, preparing and constructing landscaped outdoor areas and undertaking associated hardscape and softscape works across residential, civil and commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Interpret landscape plans, drawings and specifications to determine the layout, materials, plants and construction requirements for landscaping projects.
  • Plan and schedule landscaping activities and organise materials, plants, tools and equipment required for each project.
  • Prepare sites, soil, growing areas and garden beds for landscaping and planting.
  • Set out and construct hardscape and softscape structures as required for landscaping projects.
  • Construct and install gravel and paved areas, garden structures, retaining walls, fences, trellises, pergolas and other landscape features.
  • Undertake fencing and associated landscape construction works in conjunction with garden and outdoor area projects.
  • Prepare garden beds and growing sites for planting trees, shrubs, bushes, hedges, flowers and bulbs.
  • Select and plant suitable trees, bushes, hedges, flowers, bulbs and other plants in accordance with landscape plans and site requirements.
  • Prepare lawn areas by spreading and levelling topsoil, preparing the ground and planting grass or laying instant turf.
  • Install and position garden edging, plant supports and protective structures where required.
  • Prepare and maintain landscaped areas, including watering, weeding, trimming, mulching and general maintenance.
  • Install and work with irrigation systems associated with landscaped areas, including pumps, meters and related components where required.
  • Test, maintain and repair irrigation systems and identify basic irrigation issues.
  • Apply fertilisers, pesticides and other approved horticultural treatments where required to control weeds, pests, diseases and plant disorders.
  • Operate and maintain landscaping tools, machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Measure, cut, position and secure landscaping materials accurately to achieve the required design and finish.
  • Maintain a clean and safe worksite and comply with workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with other trades, contractors and team members to ensure landscaping and associated outdoor construction works are completed efficiently and to the required standard.

Skills and Requirements

The successful applicant will ideally have:

  • A relevant qualification such as Certificate III in Landscape Construction/Horticulture, Certificate IV in Horticulture/Landscape Design, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
  • At least 3 years of relevant industry experience in landscape construction, landscaping or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting landscape plans, drawings and specifications.
  • Practical experience in preparing sites, garden beds, lawns and growing areas.
  • Demonstrated skills in planting trees, shrubs, hedges, flowers and other plants.
  • Experience undertaking hardscape construction, including paved or gravel areas, retaining walls, fencing and other outdoor structures.
  • Practical knowledge of soil preparation, turf installation, planting, pruning, fertilising, watering and general landscape maintenance.
  • Knowledge and practical understanding of irrigation systems and their installation, maintenance and basic repair.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, landscaping equipment and machinery.
  • Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Good physical fitness and the ability to undertake outdoor and manual work.
  • Ability to follow plans, specifications and project instructions accurately.
  • A current driver's licence would be highly regarded.
