Residential Framing and Fit-out Carpenter

Job description: 5+ years hands-on carpentry preferred, including at least 3 years residential timber framing. Read architectural, structural and truss drawings; accurately set out work from plans. Wall framing: plates, studs, noggings, lintels/LVLs, door/window openings, bracing and tie-downs. Able to erect, straighten, square, plumb and brace wall frames to a high workmanship standard. Roof trusses: set out and erect trusses, girder/jack trusses, bracing, battens, fascia/eave framing and tie-downs. Doors/windows: install jambs, hinged doors, entry doors, cavity/sliding doors, windows, locks, handles and hardware. Fix-out: architraves, skirting, window reveals and general finishing carpentry. Competent with circular/mitre saws, nail guns, drills, impact drivers, laser levels and standard carpentry tools. Accurate metric measurement, quality control, safe work practices and ability to work with minimal supervision. HIGHLY PREFERRED Australian/NZ timber framing experience or knowledge of NCC and AS 1684. Leading-hand experience and ability to organise another carpenter/labourer. Renovation, cladding, eaves/soffits, decking or stair experience. English sufficient for drawings, site instructions, safety and reporting issues.
