Responsible for preparing surfaces, measuring and setting out tiling work, cutting and laying wall and floor tiles, applying adhesives and grout, and ensuring tiles are level, aligned and finished to a high standard. The role also includes completing repairs, maintaining tools and ensuring all work meets required quality and safety standards.

Task & responsibilities

• Read plans and determine tile layouts and requirements.
• Measure, mark and prepare wall and floor surfaces.
• Apply waterproofing and prepare surfaces for tiling.
• Cut and shape tiles to fit around edges, corners and fixtures.
• Lay ceramic, porcelain and other wall and floor tiles.
• Apply adhesives, grout and finishing materials.
• Ensure tiles are level, aligned and evenly spaced.
• Repair and replace damaged tiles where required.
• Maintain tools and a clean and safe work area.
• Complete work to required quality and safety standards.

Qualification & experience

Applicants should have:

• AQF Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling or a relevant qualification, including at least two years of on-the-job training; or
• At least three years of relevant work experience.
