Sandhu Freightways Pty Ltd is seeking experienced and reliable Truck Drivers to join its transport operations in Western Australia. The positions are for long-haul drivers responsible for transporting general freight to different mine sites.

The successful candidates will operate Multi Combination (MC) trucks and undertake long-distance freight movements while maintaining a strong focus on road safety, vehicle care, load security, delivery schedules and compliance with transport requirements. The role requires drivers who can work independently, manage long-haul trips and communicate effectively with the transport team and site personnel.

Task & responsibilities

• Operate Multi Combination (MC) trucks to transport general freight to mine sites and other designated delivery locations.
• Plan and undertake long-haul trips in accordance with delivery schedules, route requirements and operational instructions.
• Load, secure and transport freight safely to prevent movement, damage or loss during transit.
• Inspect vehicles before, during and after trips and report mechanical defects, damage or safety issues promptly.
• Operate heavy vehicles in accordance with road laws, fatigue-management requirements and company procedures.
• Complete required pre-start and post-trip vehicle checks and maintain accurate vehicle and trip records.
• Safely manoeuvre and position heavy vehicles at loading areas, mine sites, depots and delivery locations.
• Assist with loading and unloading activities where required and ensure freight is handled appropriately.
• Check freight, delivery documentation and load details against consignment requirements.
• Secure and restrain loads using appropriate equipment and methods in accordance with load-restraint requirements.
• Maintain communication with dispatchers, supervisors, customers and mine-site personnel regarding deliveries and trip progress.
• Complete delivery dockets, logbooks, electronic records and other required transport documentation accurately.
• Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of the assigned truck and report maintenance requirements.
• Follow site-specific induction, safety and access requirements when entering mine sites.
• Respond appropriately to changing road, weather, traffic and site conditions while maintaining safe driving practices.

Qualification & experience

• Relevant AQF Certificate II or III qualification, or equivalent relevant training and experience.
• Minimum 1-3 years of relevant full-time truck driving experience, preferably in long-haul, general freight or mine-site transport.
• Demonstrated experience operating MC-class heavy vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Knowledge of heavy vehicle road rules, fatigue management, load restraint and safe driving practices.
• Experience transporting general freight over long distances and working to scheduled delivery times.
• Ability to complete pre-start inspections and identify/report vehicle defects and maintenance issues.
• Ability to safely load, secure, transport and deliver freight in accordance with relevant requirements.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety and mine-site safety procedures.
• Good communication, reliability, time management and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work independently during extended long-haul trips and maintain professional conduct.
• Ability and willingness to work a minimum of 38 ordinary hours per week, with reasonable additional hours as required by operational needs.
