Full-Time Retail Manager
Salary: $80,000 - $85,000 per annum (plus superannuation)
SUMMARY
The Retail Manager is responsible for the independent day-to-day management of Ampol Ivanhoe, including the service station and convenience store operations, staff supervision, customer service, stock control, financial performance, compliance and overall presentation of the business. The site provides fuel and convenience retail products, including hot pies, sandwiches, snacks, beverages and other convenience items. The business also incorporates accommodation facilities comprising a caravan park and motel/cabins. The Retail Manager has primary responsibility for managing the day-to-day operation of the site and its staff, while reporting to the Operations Manager on overall business performance and significant operational matters.
Key Responsibilities
a) Retail Operations & Compliance
• Independently manage the day-to-day operations of the Ampol Ivanhoe service station and convenience store.
• Oversee fuel sales, convenience retail operations and associated customer services.
• Coordinate the day-to-day operation of the site's accommodation and caravan facilities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable WHS/OHS, fuel safety, food handling and other regulatory requirements.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, safety and security throughout the premises.
• Conduct regular operational checks and promptly address identified issues.
b) Staff Management & Supervision
• Manage and supervise staff working across the business.
• Coordinate staff recruitment, induction, training and ongoing development.
• Prepare staff rosters and allocate duties according to operational requirements.
• Monitor staff performance, attendance and customer service standards.
• Provide day-to-day direction and supervision and address workplace or performance issues as required.
• Ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained for the efficient operation of the business.
c) Financial, Stock & Supplier Management
• Monitor sales, operating costs and overall store performance.
• Oversee daily financial transactions, cash handling, reconciliations and record-keeping.
• Manage stock ordering and inventory levels for fuel, convenience products, food and beverages.
• Liaise with suppliers regarding stock requirements, pricing and deliveries.
• Monitor stock movement, wastage and shrinkage and implement appropriate controls.
• Analyse sales and customer demand to determine appropriate product ranges and stock levels.
d) Customer Service, Sales & Business Performance
• Maintain high standards of customer service across the business.
• Handle and resolve customer complaints and operational issues.
• Manage product displays, merchandising, pricing and in-store promotions.
• Identify opportunities to improve sales and overall business performance.
• Monitor customer demand and recommend improvements to products and services.
• Maintain positive relationships with customers, travellers and the local community.
e) Caravan Park & Accommodation Operations
• Oversee the day-to-day administration of the site's caravan park.
• Coordinate bookings, customer enquiries and allocation of caravan sites.
• Oversee the site's 8 motel/cabin rooms, comprising 4 ensuite rooms and 4 single cabins.
• Ensure accommodation and common areas are appropriately maintained, presented and prepared for customers.
• Coordinate any maintenance or operational issues relating to the accommodation facilities.
f) Reporting & Administration
• Maintain accurate records relating to sales, stock, staffing, accommodation and compliance.
• Monitor key performance indicators and overall operational performance.
• Prepare and provide regular operational reports to the Operations Manager.
• Implement company policies and procedures at site level.
• Report significant operational, staffing, financial or compliance matters to senior management.
Qualifications & Experience
• Relevant Diploma-level qualification or higher; or
• Substantial relevant experience in retail management where applicable.
Essential Experience
• Demonstrated experience in retail management, preferably within a service station, fuel/convenience or similar retail environment.
• Experience independently managing day-to-day business operations.
• Demonstrated experience managing and supervising staff.
• Experience in stock control, purchasing, cash management and retail financial operations.

Hours of Work
This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 38 hours per week.
The business currently operates from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, and the Retail Manager is required to work flexibly according to operational requirements, including weekends and public holidays where required. The business is also progressing plans to establish an on-site kitchen/food service operation, subject to the necessary approvals, which is expected to further expand the site's services and operations.
