Your new role

We are currently seeking an experienced Leading Hand to join a Civil Operations team based in Mirani. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll supervise and support a crew delivering road, drainage and civil construction works across the region.
You will be responsible for coordinating staff, resources and daily work activities while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. Alongside your leadership duties, you'll remain actively involved in construction and maintenance activities and play a key role in mentoring and developing team members.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Supervising and supporting a civil construction and maintenance crew
  • Coordinating staff, plant and resources to achieve project deadlines
  • Undertaking hands-on civil construction and maintenance work
  • Leading workplace health and safety initiatives and promoting safe work practices
  • Overseeing the operation, maintenance and minor repairs of plant, vehicles and equipment
  • Managing traffic control activities and site safety
  • Completing documentation, records and reporting requirements
  • Providing exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders
  • Mentoring, coaching and training team members
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental and workplace regulations
  • Assisting with additional duties as directed by supervisors

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience in a Leading Hand, Civil Supervisor or senior civil construction role
  • Strong background in road construction, drainage or civil maintenance projects
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing crews and daily operations
  • Construction White Card
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Traffic Management qualifications highly regarded
  • Plant operating tickets and licences advantageous
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to mentor, train and support team members
  • Commitment to workplace health and safety
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced civil construction environment
