The Proposals Engineer is a key role within the business, responsible for preparing and developing high-quality, competitive, and technically sound proposals for water infrastructure projects. This position supports the growth and success of the company by providing technical expertise and commercial insight throughout the bid process. The Proposals Engineer will work closely with project managers, engineers, estimators, and the business development team to ensure that all proposals meet client requirements, comply with industry standards, and align with company objectives.

Task & responsibilities
Proposal Development & Delivery:
Lead and contribute to the development of proposals for water infrastructure projects in the Australian and New Zealand markets.
Prepare technical and commercial proposals in collaboration with the technical team, Proposals Manager, and other internal stakeholders (e.g., engineering, procurement, construction, and scheduling).
Coordinate the development of pricing for equipment, services, and resources, in collaboration with local civil, mechanical, and engineering partners.
Ensure proposals are aligned with client requirements, industry standards, and company objectives.
Technical & Commercial Support:
Provide assistance with process, design, engineering, and scheduling activities to ensure that the proposal is both technically feasible and commercially competitive.
Assist in preparing the engineering, technical, and cost components of the proposal, ensuring all aspects are accurate, complete, and integrated.
Manage the technical aspects of the proposal, ensuring they are fully aligned with project delivery capabilities and the client’s scope of work.
Coordination & Stakeholder Management:
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and local partners, to ensure smooth information flow and timely completion of proposals.
Manage internal stakeholders within the scope of the proposal, ensuring alignment with the wider project and business objectives.
Act as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, anticipating needs and influencing relationships to secure successful bids.
Proposal Strategy & Execution:
Develop and implement strategies for the preparation and submission of proposals, suggesting improvements and adapting approaches to maximise competitiveness and meet client needs.
Position yourself as the leader for the work you are responsible for, taking ownership of the proposal process and ensuring deadlines are met.
Ensure proposals are optimised for cost, quality, time, and competitiveness, considering all project risks and opportunities.
Compliance & Quality Assurance:
Review all proposal documentation for compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and client specifications.
Ensure that all deliverables are in line with the quality standards set by the company and meet the required internal and external deadlines.
Continuous Improvement & Business Support:
Contribute to ongoing improvements in the proposal development process, tools, and templates to increase efficiency and improve the quality of submissions
Provide support to the business development team by anticipating and influencing client relationships and providing technical insights that contribute to successful project acquisition.
Collaborate with senior management and business developers to align proposal efforts with the strategic direction of the company.
Qualification & experience
A Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g. PMP, Lean Six Sigma) is an advantage.
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a proposals engineering role, preferably within the water infrastructure or related construction industry.
Proven experience in preparing and managing technical and commercial proposals, from design through to bid submission.
Strong knowledge of water infrastructure systems and technologies, including design, construction, and commissioning practices.
Proficiency in engineering software (e.g. AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Project, or similar).
Experience with bid estimation, cost modelling, and risk management.

SUEZ is in the process of refreshing it strategy both globally and locally, and is now looking for a Mechanical Engineer to provide mechanical design experitise, advice and technical inputs. The position will lead the Mechanical discipline in the feasibility studies, options reports, basic and detailed design projects, and provide site engineering support during construction, and commissioning assistance. The position will be responsible for co-ordinating with other engineering disciplines, managing engineers, design-drafters and external resources and sub-consultants as required by project and/or organisational needs.
