Description: 

XS Espresso MB Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled and dedicated Cook to join its kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of quality meals, maintaining consistent food quality and presentation, and following food safety and hygiene standards. The Cook will work closely with the kitchen team to support smooth daily operations and ensure meals are prepared efficiently and to a high standard. Previous experience in a similar role and a passion for cooking are essential.

Task & responsibilities

• Inspect food products to ensure they meet required standards for quality, freshness, and suitability.
• Operate and monitor ovens, grills, and other kitchen equipment, maintaining appropriate cooking temperatures.
• Prepare, cook, and present a wide range of dishes in accordance with established menu specifications.
• Adjust and enhance flavours during the cooking process to maintain consistent taste, quality, and presentation.
• Accurately portion ingredients, plate finished dishes, and apply sauces, gravies, and garnishes as required.
• Store and handle food in temperature-controlled conditions to preserve freshness and comply with food safety regulations.
• Prepare meals according to specific dietary requirements and customer preferences when requested.
• Assist with menu development, meal preparation planning, and estimating ingredient quantities as required.
• Provide guidance, training, and support to junior kitchen staff and apprentices to help maintain efficient kitchen operations.

Qualification & experience

• Minimum of Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent or equivalent work experience 
• Minimum 1 year of experience in related field.
• In-depth knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen operations 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
