Print Production Assistant / Finisher

At Peterkin, our print finishers make sure every sheet, card and envelope leaves our Bassendean facility just right. We're looking for a careful, hands-on Print Production Assistant - Finisher to join our production team on a casual basis. We'd like this to become a permanent role for the right person. It's a varied role. You'll work across finishing, stock handling, quality control and despatch, so no two days are quite the same. What you'll be doing: * Weighing, counting and shrink-wrapping paper, card and envelopes into set quantities, and recording what's been wrapped * Quality control - spotting imperfect products, recording them and letting the right people know * Hand finishing (table hand) work, including hand collating, hand gluing and finishing other paper products * Duplexing (gluing) paper sheets together * Finding the print files for pre-designed labels, printing them and checking them for imperfections * Putting stock away on the warehouse shelves and gathering stock for external packaging * Helping our despatch team by picking and packing customer orders * Other tasks as needed - we're a close team and everyone pitches in What we need from you: * At least 1 year of experience in a similar role or industry (print finishing, paper, packaging or warehouse) desirable, but not essential * Good working knowledge of English, both spoken and written - you'll be reading labels, job details and order paperwork, and sending internal emails * Basic computer skills - you can open, read and send emails in Microsoft Outlook * A sharp eye for detail - you'll notice when something isn't quite right * Confidence counting and handling paper and envelopes accurately * Good time management, and the ability to work quickly and efficiently on your own * A calm approach when urgent orders need to get out the door About Peterkin We're a family-owned Premium Paper Merchant and Luxury Printery that's been going since 1996. We import and distribute specialty papers from around the world, manufacture over 600 envelope styles we keep on our warehouse shelves, and run a specialist trade print operation producing Letterpress and Hot Foil Press work for the wedding stationery industry, corporates, designers and direct consumers.
