Motor Mechanic (General) Location: Karratha, Western Australia Employment Type: Full-Time Salary: $70,000-$90,000 per annum + superannuation About the Opportunity Our client, NORWEST, is a growing Civil Construction & Logistics Company based in the Karratha and Wickham area of Western Australia. They are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic (General) to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable, motivated and safety-focused mechanic seeking a stable full-time position with a supportive team. About the Role As a Motor Mechanic (General), you will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of vehicles, mobile plant and equipment used across civil construction and logistics operations. Key responsibilities include: Inspect, service, maintain and repair vehicles, mobile plant and mechanical equipment Diagnose mechanical faults and determine appropriate repair requirements Carry out scheduled and preventative maintenance Perform servicing and repairs on engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension and other mechanical components Inspect and test vehicle and equipment components to identify faults and defects Dismantle, repair, replace and reassemble mechanical components as required Conduct mechanical adjustments and repairs to ensure vehicles and equipment operate safely and efficiently Carry out routine inspections and pre-start checks Identify and report equipment faults, defects and maintenance requirements Replace worn, damaged or defective components Conduct testing and operational checks following repairs and maintenance Maintain accurate service records, maintenance reports and other required documentation Ensure all work is completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workplace requirements Follow workplace health and safety procedures and site requirements Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a safe and orderly condition Liaise professionally with supervisors, operators and other team members Assist with general mechanical and maintenance activities as required Perform overtime when required to meet operational requirements Skills and Experience To be successful in this role, you will have: Relevant trade qualification as a Motor Mechanic (General) or equivalent Previous experience as a motor mechanic working with vehicles, mobile plant or heavy equipment Demonstrated experience in vehicle servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills Experience working on diesel and/or petrol engines Knowledge of vehicle mechanical systems, including engines, transmissions, braking and suspension systems Ability to use diagnostic equipment and mechanical tools safely and effectively Strong understanding of safe mechanical work practices and workplace safety requirements Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and specifications Good organisational and time-management skills Ability to complete service records and maintenance documentation accurately Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with others Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Reliable, positive and professional attitude Flexibility and willingness to work across different vehicles and equipment as required Availability to perform overtime when required Essential Requirements Relevant trade qualification in Motor Mechanics or equivalent Demonstrated experience as a Motor Mechanic (General) Demonstrated experience servicing and repairing vehicles and/or mobile plant Ability to meet workplace and site safety requirements Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical Ability to successfully complete a drug and alcohol screen Two contactable employment referees
