We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Trades Worker to join our team on a full-time basis, responsible for fabricating, assembling HVAC ductwork and sheet metal components while maintaining quality and workplace safety standards.

Task & responsibilities

• Study engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements, materials, measurements and equipment required for HVAC ductwork and sheet metal fabrication projects. 
• Select and inspect sheet metal materials including galvanized steel, stainless steel and aluminum, ensuring material types, sizes, gauges and dimensions complied with project specifications and fabrication requirements. 
• Mark out sheet metal components using templates, measurements, reference points, gauges and other precision measuring instruments to achieve accurate fabrication outcomes. 
• Cut sheet metal along marked guidelines using hand and power shears, guillotines, drills and other sheet metal fabrication equipment. 
• Shape and form sheet metal components using folding machines, bending machines, rollers, presses and hand tools to manufacture HVAC ductwork and custom fabricated components. 
• Fabricate and assemble HVAC sheet metal products including rectangular ductwork, aluminum ductwork, stainless steel ductwork, plenum boxes, sub-duct sections, roof cowls, pipework covers, plinth frames and other customized sheet metal components. 
• Join and assemble fabricated components using welding, riveting, soldering, brazing and other metal joining techniques to ensure structural strength and compliance with project specifications. 
• Complete finishing process including polishing, filing, sanding, deburring and cleaning of fabricated products to achieve required quality standards and ensure accurate installation. 
• Perform prefabrication and pre-assembly of ductwork sections in a controlled manufacturing environment to improve installation efficiency, reduce onsite labor requirements and support project timelines. 
• Conduct quality inspections of fabricated products to ensure compliance with Australian Standards, project drawings, specifications and company quality requirements. 
• Operate sheet metal fabrication machinery safely and maintain a clean, organized and compliant workplace in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.

Qualification & experience

• Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience as a Sheet Metal Worker/Fabricator is preferred.
• Completion of relevant trade qualifications in Sheet Metal Work, Sheet Metal Fabrication or a related field.
• Experience reading and accurately interpreting technical drawings, fabrication drawings and specifications.
• Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, tools and equipment.
• Physically fit and capable of performing manual work and handling materials safely.
• Demonstrates a genuine commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
